We have been given the go ahead by Trafford Council, and work has commenced on site to bring forward a boutique residential scheme in Altrincham town centre.
A change of use for the Victorian property, formerly offices that had remained vacant, 47 George Street is set to become four luxury apartments designed by Ollier Smurthwaite Architects in a six-month refurbishment programme.
The design-led apartments, ranging in size between 450 and 850 sq ft, include three 1-bed and one 2-bed, with high-quality internal fit out and specification, including herringbone flooring, Italian porcelain and brass fixtures.
Retaining the period aesthetic and desirable features of the prominent high street building, Bossy Homes interior designers were briefed to roll out the Victorian theme internally, to maximise the high ceiling spaces and incoming natural light from the sash windows. Wood floorings and panelled doors, natural colour palettes and patterned tiling will create a contemporary Victorian style in the main rooms.
Luke Powell, managing director, 21 Living commented: “We are delighted to be on home soil, bringing forward a scheme that represents our development style and ambition to identify niche sites and bring them to life. George Street has allowed the team to be creative and sympathetic to the period features, and to restore the building’s glory in a prominent location in the town centre.
“Altrincham continues to drive demand with its vibrant town centre and wealth of amenities, bars and restaurants, plus its excellent connectivity to Manchester and the region. We are delighted to respond to the market with our high-quality homes.”
Marketed by Buy Association, the apartments range in price from £250k, with two sold off-plan already.
RPS acted on behalf of 21 Living to acquire the building, and Paul Butler Associates were the planning consultants. Interior design for the apartments was fulfilled by Bossy Homes.
